Re-live the moments from the Olympic Torch Relay in Nagano Prefecture. 🔥
On the first day, the journey began in Karuizawa Town, a mountain resort that sits at the foot of an active volcano on Japan’s alluringly-named Romantic Road. From there, it made its way to Saku City, Yamanouchi Town, Ueda City, Nozawaonsen Village and Hakuba Village, before a final stop in Nagano City.
On the second day, the Torch Relay left Tsumago-juku, one of the traditional post stations from the Edo Period, visited Nagano’s central and southern countryside with the Japan Alps as the backdrop and arrived in the city of Matsumoto for a celebration. Nagano City is home to the National Treasure Zenko-ji Temple, and Matsumoto City is where Matsumoto Castle is located. 🏯
