Day 16: Free Sea Urchins? Rice Balls from a Monk? (115km) | My 12500km Lap of Japan on Bicycle

This is a vlog of a day during 12500km lap (June 2020 to Oct 2020) around Japan on bicycle! I try my best to eat delicious Japanese food, visit amazing temples/nature spots, work remotely and edit videos (on my iPhone) all at the same time!

You can find personal google maps that I used to navigate Japan on my site:

Day 16 was a 115km bicycle ride from Oma, Aomori to Mutsu, Aomori! My legs were toast from the day before but it was one of the most memorable days of the entire trip. I met a grandma along the coast collecting sea urchins and she gave me some for free! I ate the delicious urchins with some rice balls… made by the monk who was running my previous nights stay.

Tetora / tetra / テトラ explained

In Japan, the breakwaters are made from giant rocks with a tetrahedral shape (like a methane particle… or Idk). Fish like to spend time around them so fishing around these rocks is pretty common!

I was too tired to head down below the formation but they looked pretty impressive from afar!
