Shimokitazawa下北沢 :
Famous for the unique fashion style of the people in town, Shimokitazawa is a neighborhood with great shopping, with many stores carrying vintage and second-hand clothing, cute interior goods, and antiques.

With plenty of theaters, galleries, live houses, comfortable cafes, and izakaya bars, many people refer to Shimokitazawa as “Shimokita” for short. For those looking for something unique, this is a must-go place in Tokyo!

Shimokitazawa has been the center of Japan’s subculture scene since the 1970s. Many of the galleries and venues here cater to indie artists and local creators.

Perhaps that is why this town is popular among the younger generation while having a nostalgic feel at the same time. Shimokita is well-known for its strong support for local art.
Nerimasu :
Narimasu is a station on the famously cheap Tobu Tojo line. According to a survey by major Japanese Real Estate search site “At Home” in 2012, Narimasu was selected as the “easiest place to live” in the 23 wards area of Tokyo. Reasons cited were the low, low rent, the convenience to Ikebukuro (the relatively new Fukutoshin line also runs through the area) and the facilities around the station – which is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. Like every good cheapo neighbourhood there is a historic shotengai – which isn’t being touched by the redevelopment

Asagaya阿佐ヶ谷 :
Asagaya is a neighbourhood of Suginami Ward which is only 12 minutes from Shinjuku on the JR Chuo Line.

The Pearl Center shopping arcade hosts one of the largest Tanabata festivals in Tokyo around July 7th of each year.

While neighbouring Koenji is known as the cradle of punk in Japan, Asagaya is known as the home of Jazz in Japan. Consequently, jazz bars abound and there is a jazz festival – Asagaya Jazz Streets – held during the last weekend of October
