A compilation of video clips taken in February & March 2021, the final month of regular operations of JR East’s 185 series EMU.
The 185 series was introduced by JNR for Limited Express services in the Kanto region, including Odoriko (Tokyo~Izu); Kusastsu (Ueno~Kusatsuguchi / Manza Kazawaguchi), Akagi (Ueno – Maebashi)and former services Minakami (Ueno – Minakami), Hamakaiji (Yokohama~Matsumoto) & Karuizawa (Ueno~Karuizawa). The train is also used on commuter liner services. It was also used on the Tohoku Relay service between Omiya and Ueno before the extension of the shinkansen to Ueno was completed.
The 185 series was also designed to be used on ordinary services and has a wider door than standard on Limited Express trains to allow faster boarding / off boarding of passengers.
The last day of regular service (on Limited Express Odoriko and Shonai Liner & Ohayou Liner between Odawara and Tokyo / Shinjuku) is 12th March 2021.
