Okayama Castle was a national treasure until it was destroyed by air raids in World War II. Also known as Ujo Castle or Kin-Ujo Castle. (The Crow Castle, The Golden Crow Castle)

In 1931, the castle tower was designated as a national treasure by the government, and then some watchtowers and gates were also did. However, in June 1945, the castle tower was destroyed by an air raid.The reconstruction project, which began in 1964, took two years, finally in 1966 the stunning castle tower was revived.After the Meiji Restoration (1868), while many castles were demolished, Okayama Castle was survived.
The first castle was built in Okayama in the 14th century, but the details are unknown. In 1570, the castle was owned by Sengoku warlord Ukita, and large-scale construction was carried out for eight years from 1590, creating a magnificent castle and castle town (Six stories, its appearance is four layers)
The samurai lord Ikeda, who became the castle owner in 1613, completed the final maintenance of the castle and built a magnificent Japanese garden called Korakuen to the adjacent to his residence.

第二次世界大戦で空襲で焼失するまで、岡山城は国宝でした。
別名、烏城または金烏城と呼ばれます。
1931年、政府によりまず天守閣が国宝に指定、その後、櫓や門なども指定されるに至りました。しかし1945年6月、米軍による空襲で天守閣を焼失してしまいました。1964年に始まった再建プロジェクトは2年かかりましたが、1966年に見事な天守閣が復活しました。
明治維新後、各地の多くの城が取り壊される中、岡山城は残されることになりましたが、結局戦災で消失してしまいました。
そもそもこの岡山の地に城が建てられたのは14世紀半ですが、詳細は分かっていません。1570年には戦国武将の宇喜多家の城となり、1590年から8年間にわたり大規模な工事が行われ、壮大な城郭そして城下の町が作られました(4重6階建)。1613年に城主となった池田家は城の最終的な整備を行い、さらに後楽園という壮大な日本庭園を造営しました。
