I spent my whole Cherry Blossom season in Kawagoe, Saitama. Just about 45 minutes away from central Tokyo, you can visit the Little Town of Edo also known as Koedo, the shrine of relationships and matchmaking or the Hikawa shrine and just a few steps away(at the back of Hikawa shrine) is the Shingashi river where you can enjoy boat riding among the cherry blossoms. Kawagoe also has a lot to offer when it comes to Cherry Blossom viewing or the “Hanami” in Japanese. You can set a picnic with your friends or family along the Iruma river or visit the Suijokoen (水上公園) for less crowd experience.
