Mount Ono – Tokyo Day Trip near Mount Fuji Hiking in Japan
This hiking in Japan nature day trip was in the Tanzawa Mountain Range located in Kanagawa prefecture. Very near Tokyo and easy location to reach from Tokyo travelers who want a taste of nature! Total length was 17KM (10.5 Miles) 4 hours from Yaga Station to Yamakita Station. If you do this hike I recommend you do an out and back (piston) from Yaga station. There was a rockslide so the path going down to Yamakita station is closed. We had to walk on the paved mountain roads all the way down. I DO NOT recommend this while the trail is closed. It’s not fun.
All in all the views from this mountain are tremendous. As always Mount Fuji was absolutely banging! If I did the out and back I would have rated this hike to 730 meters peak higher. Anyone can do this hike. It’s good for beginners of older folks. There is even a parking lot near the top (which I never recommend) We’re hikers! We’re outdoorsman. Make it to the summit on your own steam 🙂 Good luck, Gombatte-masu! Go Hiking in Japan! In the meantime I hope you enjoy my Japan Hiking Vlog.
