The JR East Pass gives you unlimited rides for 3 days on all JR trains (including Shinkansen) up to Aomori Prefecture so we figured we’d take a little trip up north and do a little exploring! Here we take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Hachinohe and had some good seafood at Hasshoku Center, a local fish market, then hit up the stunning seaside Kabushima Shrine.
It was New Year’s so a lot of places were closed but we still found plenty to do. Winter in Tohoku is stunning and everything was covered in snow, even right up to the coast! We end the day heading back down south to Yahaba in Iwate Prefecture to spend the night; more to come in part 2!
