Service areas (sometimes Parking areas) are attached to highways in Japan so you can take a break, eat some food, buy some souvenirs and more depending on the place. Like Michi-no-Ekis (Road Stations) I’ve talked about before, there are often local treats and veggies, food etc.
Hasuda Service Area, located less than 30 minutes from my house, is one of the last service areas before heading into Tokyo. In 2019 they closed off the old one on one side of the highway and made a brand new, fairly massive one down the road.
Come check out what the newer service areas are like, and enjoy all the fun of Hasuda Service Area.
I make almost daily posts about food, places and interesting things in Japan via social media, come check it out!
