Across the Alps on a Touring Bicycle – Day 6 Highlights (Fuessen to Lake Garda)

Highlights from the 6th day on the Fuessen to Lake Garda bike tour across the Alps! This day involves some ascents on fantastic trails through breathtaking terrain, followed by a refreshing downhill directly toward a glistening lake. The ascents can be avoided by taking an alternate trail through the valley, but some spectacular vistas, as well as a swim in the warmest lake in the Alps, will be missed. This day covers 71 km (44 miles), and 104 m. (341 ft.) of elevation gain. Those willing to take on a little more climbing, can opt to overnight in a historic castle that has been converted to a hotel. The route travels almost entirely over perfectly paved bike paths, with a few short sections through villages, as well as one short section on a larger road (avoidable by taking the alternate route).
