From Fushima Inari Shrine it was another 45 minutes with the train to Nara. After a sandwich at a French Patisserie we walked along a shopping street towards the temples and the Narapark. We soon reached Kohfukuji Temple. Kohfukuji Temple is a Buddhist temple. We saw a large Buddha statue in it. It is said that this was the attraction in Nara. For 500 yen we could visit the temple. The Buddha statue was disappointed. It wasn’t that big. There was little else to see in this temple. You could only take a little more distance from Pagode on the site, so that it could also be completely on the video in landscape.
Somewhat disappointed, we walked on to the Narapark. Besides many tourists, the Narapark was also full of deer. The deer were fed some biscuits that you could buy for 200 yen. With that you could easily get the deer in the picture. We didn’t have that need, but it was nice to watch it from a bench.
We continued past the queue for the museum and saw that we could go to the Todaij Temple. That also turned out to be the temple with the big Buddha. And this one was really impressive. This one was worth the 600 yen. It was busy there too. Groups of pupils and students flocked to and from. We followed the path further to different halls. The Nigatsudo Hall was by far the most beautiful.
Walking back to the station we enjoyed the sunset. The sky colored beautifully with the silhouettes of a Kohfukuji Temple and the Pagoda.
