県高島市 マキノ高原 メタセコイア並木への行き方と紅葉の見頃
人や車の多さには驚きましたが、駐車場は無料で開放され、カフェやマキノピックランドの施設も綺麗でとてもいい印象を持ちました。沿道は綺麗に整備され、今の季節はメタセコイアの落葉のカーペットを歩いているような感じの場所が所々にありました。
マキノピックランドを縦貫する町道沢牧野線と同様に続く県道小荒路牧野沢線には、延長2.4kmにわたってメタセコイアが約500本植えられ、遠景となる野坂山地の山々とも調和し、マキノ高原へのアプローチ道として高原らしい景観を形成しています。
この並木は、昭和56年に学童農園「マキノ土に学ぶ里」整備事業の一環としてマキノ町果樹生産組合が植えたのが始まりですが、組合関係者をはじめとする地域の人々の手により慈しまれ、育まれて、その後さらに県道も協調して植栽され、延長が伸ばされたことから、現在のこの雄大な姿となったものです。メタセコイアは、中国原産、スギ科メタセコイア属の落葉高木で、和名はアケボノスギ。最大樹高が115mにも及ぶといわれるセコイアにその姿が似ていることから、メタ（変形した）セコイアと名づけられています。春の芽吹き・新緑、夏の深緑、秋の紅葉、冬の裸樹・雪花と四季折々に訪れる人々を魅了します。平成6年、読売新聞社の「新・日本の街路樹百景」に選定され、衆目を集めるに至っています。

On the prefectural road Koaraji Makinozawa Line, which runs through the agricultural park Makino Pick Land, about 500 metasequoia trees are planted over a length of about 2.4 km, harmonizing with the mountains of the Nosaka Mountains, which is a distant view, and the plateau as an approach road to the Makino Plateau. It forms a unique landscape.
This row of trees was first planted by the Makino Town Fruit Tree Production Association as part of the Makino Town Fruit Tree Production Association as part of the schoolchildren’s farm “Makino Soil Learning Village” maintenance project in 1981. It was cultivated and nurtured, and then the prefectural roads were planted in cooperation with each other, and the extension was extended, which made it the current magnificent figure. Metasequoia is a deciduous tree of the genus Metasequoia of the family Taxodiaceae, native to China, and its Japanese name is Akebonosugi. It is named Meta (deformed) Sequoia because it resembles Sequoia, which is said to have a maximum tree height of 115m. It attracts people who visit in each season, such as spring buds / fresh green, summer dark green, autumn leaves, and winter bare trees / snow flowers. In 1994, it was selected as one of the “100 New Japanese Roadside Trees” by the Yomiuri Shimbun, and has attracted public attention.
