Hananuki Gorge is a large Gorge in Takahagi city that contains abysses and waterfalls of various sizes from small to large, along with a wooden suspended bridge over a waterfall and small river, a camping area and more. In fall the area features amazing red and yellow leaves.
This scenic gorge area stretches from Hananuki dam downriver to the Kotachizawa Camp Site. The gorge’s biggest draw is the beautiful Shiomi Falls Suspension Bridge, and there are also plenty of hiking trails for exploring the area.
The best time to visit is Autumn, when Autumn foliage transforms the area into a sea of fiery reds and yellows. Summer is another great time to visit – bring your swimwear and plunge into the natural pools and streams, then relax with a barbecue or picnic at the camp area.
