Add to these the airy minimalist expressions of Art Deco, burnish the two together, and you’ll arrive at the modern, refined design sensibility that has been called “Shiseido Style.” In this section we introduce some of the products and promotional posters that best represent this style. Along with these, we also present some of the materials from the Shiseido archives that have been used as educational materials by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology @mitpics The first part of the 20th-century history provides a vivid image of the efflorescence of modernity in Japan—reflecting the changing ideals of feminine beauty, the emergence of a vibrant consumer culture, cutting-edge trends in advertising and packaging, and the persistence of cosmopolitan ideals. This selection draws on our vast archives, focusing on the marketing of concepts of modern beauty from the 1920s through the 1940s. Postcard #1935 #SharingOurArchives 💮 #ShareBeauty with #Shiseido
