As part of the Jinrikisha (人力車 – “Human-pulled Rickshaw”) experience, we were given a tour of the Ohashi House (大橋家住宅, Ōhashi-ke Jūtaku), the residence of the foremost (rice) merchant in Kurashiki. That the Ohashi family was able to use architectural designs usually reserved for Samurai, was an indication of their prominence and importance in the area at the time.
