His community is awesome and it was so funny to randomly find him outside the prison area streaming at the same time. I hid in some bushes and jumpscared him. LOL
So in today’s stream, we visited Ayase, located in Tokyo’s Adachi City. It’s in the northeastern corner of Tokyo prefecture.
Ayase Station is the only station along the Tokyo Metro line that has a Platform 0! So it was fitting to begin the stream at that platform.
We also visited the Tokyo Budokan, a giant martial arts competition and demonstration hall. Unfortunately, you can’t go in to film or take pictures, but you can visit inside for free if you sign a registration book and take off your shoes. The building was designed by Kijo Rokkaku and completed in 1989. Its design is based on tuning in with nature through geomancy and mathematics.
The building was damaged during the great March 2011 earthquake but was still able to hold and take care of many refugees from the Fukushima and Sendai areas after they evacuated their home.
We walked through Higashi-Ayase Park, which is a really nice walking park that loops around Ayase.
And afterward, we walked over to the Tokyo Detention House (Kosuge Prison), which is 1 of 7 major prisons in Japan. It’s also 1 of 7 prisons that executes inmates on death row. It is the location where Shoko Asahara, leader of the Aum Shinrikyo cult responsible for the 1995 Tokyo Sarin gas attacks, was hung in 2018, along with all of his senior cult leadership.
Most recently, it is known as the place where former CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn, was held for 108 days before being released, which eventually led to the infamous escape from Japan to Lebanon.
