Hiroshima Castle is a Japanese castle from the Azuchi Momoyama period to the Edo period, which was built in Hiroshima, Aki-gun, Aki Province (currently Motomachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture).It is designated as a national historic site.A castle built by Terumoto Mouri in the delta area at the mouth of the Ota River, castle buildings such as the castle tower still existed until 1945 (Showa 20), but at the end of the Pacific War, the US military dropped an atomic bomb.All of the castle buildings below the castle tower that were destroyed by the castle were rebuilt after 1958.

After the extension of Fukushima Masanori, who entered the castle at the beginning of the Edo period, Hiroshima Castle, which is the current historic site, is the site of the main enclosure including the inner moat in Hiroshima City Central Park, out of the area of about 900,000 square meters to the outer moat that became the castle area.Within the range of the Ninomaru trace, the area is about 120,000 m2 and a part of the Sannomaru trace remains.Along with Osaka Castle and Okayama Castle, it is a representative of early modern castles, and along with Nagoya Castle and Okayama Castle, it is one of the three great castles in Japan.It has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Castles.
