Jessica Hallams is originally from Canberra, Australia, and has been living and working in the Tohoku region. She originally came to work in Fukushima as a JET teacher, and now works as a travel promotion expert and tour planner and destination management based in Sendai.
Jess here tells us some of her ideas from her excellent TED talk in 2018 where she talked about the problem with all of the information about Fukushima being only focused on the nuclear disaster, which is a serious problem, but only effects 3% of the large prefectural area of Fukushima. She also talks about the need for regional branding and local residents role as ambassadors for the area- all fantastic, insightful ideas any tourist destination should explore!
