During our Kagoshima trip we visited Sakurajima volcano (桜島火山) island. It takes around 15 minutes with a ferry from Kagoshima port(鹿児島港). The main attraction on the island are the rivers of frozen lava which are part of the Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park (霧島錦江湾国立公園). It was very interesting to walk on the Nagisa Lava Trail (溶岩なぎさ遊歩道). There is even a public foot spa (足湯) with hot water in the begining with the lava trail.
