In March 2020 the world stopped turning, the streets emptied, and life as we knew it went into hibernation. But something rather remarkable was borne out of this shared existential crisis. Restaurants all over London, when faced with the nightmare scenario of being ordered to close to the public, chose to reinvent themselves. Instead of feeding the public they would feed the frontline. The doctors, nurses, administrators, porters, and janitors of the NHS that were going head to head with COVID-19. The scale of the London restaurant community’s contribution to the COVID-19 fight is nothing short of remarkable.

It should be known that this episode was Greg Barnes’s brainchild. From beginning to end. His idea, his production, his execution. It is, as everything that Greg does, quite brilliant. I was proud to be peripherally involved.
