Hands up if you love the golden leaves of ginkgo trees in autumn 🙌💛
The leaves that gently fall from this giant 350-year-old tree next to Kingenji Temple in Okuizumo, Shimane Prefecture, cover the temple’s thatched roof and the ground below with a vibrant yellow-hued carpet.
Okuizumo is also renowned for the spectacular natural vistas of Oni no Shitaburi Gorge and for being the birthplace of the one-thousand-year-old tatara method to forge steel for Japanese samurai swords.
