Japan’s deepest lake is a beautiful and popular spot in the summer.
Text of the legend of Tatsuko:
A girl of unparalleled beauty, she wanted to stay youthful and beautiful forever. For a hundred nights she recited the Buddhist canon. An answer came telling her to visit a spring deep in the mountains. As told, she drank the spring’s water, but not before gorging herself on the bountiful and delicious fish there. As she drank, she only became more and more thirsty. The panicked Tatsuko became a dragon, and a great storm came and turned the area into a lake into which she sank. There she remained.
