In this video we’re talking “travel industry” and Japan’s “with corona” travel experience with a travel consultant.

After authorities in Japan declared an end to the coronavirus-induced state of emergency in late May, opinions about domestic travel for leisure in Japan have been split between the extremes of those who fear that travel will further spread the novel coronavirus and those who rely on the travel / tourism industry for their very livelihoods.

To help us take a closer look at how the travel industry in Japan is adapting to life “with corona,” we sat down with Gifu-based travel consultant Lacey Gerdes to talk about the kind of virus-prevention measures that are being put into place for locals and tourists, how these might affect the travel experience, and what the future of travel might look like in Japan.

We hope this video and the topics we address in it can help would-be travelers to make informed decisions about whether or not to travel in Japan at this time and what they might expect of opportunities for travel in Japan in the future.

Grab a coffee. Get comfortable. Enjoy the video.

Lacey has written an article about some of her experiences working with local businesses in the travel industry during the pandemic.
