Unlike other parts of Japan there are no trains in Okinawa with the exception of a monorail which runs through only a small part of the island. Although the monorail can be useful for those who live and work in the immediate area it is not as easily used by those who live a good distance as there are no parking areas near station for cars or bikes.

Chuu uganabira! My name is Kathryn and I have been living on the beautiful island of Okinawa for almost a decade. I spend most of my time immersing myself in the culture, learning about the history of the island and way of life past and present. In 2011 I decided to start sharing my experiences here on YouTube to offer newcomers and those interested in the island the perspective of someone who has been living here long term.
