One of most beautiful lakes in Japan the Mikurigaike みくりが池 is surrounded by mountain peaks that make a wonderful reflection on it’s surface on a calm day. Resembling Switzerland-style landscapes, at 2,500 m, this is the highest point and the jewel of the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route!

There are a couple of hotels and mountain huts at Murodo but tend to be sold out in good weather! There is also a camping site at Raichosawa some 30 minutes walk from this lake and that is also the starting point for many of the most gorgeous mountain climbing routes in Japan! In winter this area has the Snow Wall 20 meters high ”Yuki-no-otani”, a must see in April-May! Easy to get here by cable car and highway bus, one day is not enough!
