A trip out into the frozen marshlands near Kushiro. First a tranquil canoe ride down the river, the snowy landscape drifting by, and then a walk through deep snow and up a mountain to enjoy the view below. We catch glimpses of Sika deer, white-tailed eagles and a bright wood-pecker.
The tour “Winter Canoeing & Wetland Watching in Snowshoes” was organised by a lovely group of people, who looked after the participants as if we were royalty. Ensuring not just our enjoyment but also our safety. Everything was well planned and the tour was truly a delight.
Although the principal language is Japanese, they really made the effort to speak English to me.
