Hiking in Japan – Mt. Katsuragi – Hiking & Haikus

Mt. Katsuragi, at 959.2 meters, is Osaka Prefectures 2nd highest peak. It straddles the border between Osaka and Nara prefectures and is famous for its beauty and panoramic view. In ancient times, Mt. Katsuragi was considered a sacred mountain.
Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry which in English uses three lines of 5-7-5 syllables. So, it is a short form of poetry, often using nature for a theme. One of the masters of the haiku was Matsuo Basho (1664-1694).
