新潟県長岡市の知られざる名所・オレンジ色に光り輝く水道タンクをご紹介します。
日が沈むと、街の中で一際明るく光を放つ長岡市のランドマークタワー・配水塔（通称：水道タンク）は、大正末期に建設され、1927年から1993年まで操業した旧中島浄水場跡地にできた水道公園内にあります。
水道タンクは、ポンプ室棟・予備発電機室棟・監視室棟と共に国の登録有形文化財として登録されており、夜はライトアップされています。
信濃川を跨ぐ大手大橋と長岡大橋の中間ほどに位置し、家々の灯りや橋を渡る車のライトと共に長岡市の夜景を豊かに彩っています。
遠くから見てもオレンジ色に光って綺麗な水道タワーですが、近くで見ると息を呑むほど美しく、大迫力です。
間違いなく長岡市の隠れた名所と言えるでしょう。
水道公園の見どころは、水道タワーだけではありません。
大正ロマンを感じさせる情緒あふれる景観の建物（ポンプ室棟・予備発電機室棟・監視室棟）も共にライトアップされており、フォトジェニックなおすすめ観光スポットです。
公園内は綺麗に整備されており、散歩やジョギングをする人たちの姿が見られます。
子どもが喜びそうなターザンロープなどの遊具も設置されているので、子連れでも楽しめます。
映画やミュージックビデオのロケ地としても使われている水道公園。
