This is a short video of my trip to Nagoya in Japan, the 4th largest city by population of the country within the Aichi prefecture.
In this leg of my trip, I visited a strawberry farm to do fruit picking, my very first time in Japan, though I have done so in other countries. The strawberries were super huge, sweet and juicy and we were given 45mins to pick and eat (do note that you cannot bring the picked strawberries out, though you can buy them at the gift shop). It was a lovely experience for me!
Afterwhich, I visited the Takayama Old Town. It has been beautifully preserved with many buildings and whole streets of houses dating back to the Edo Period (1600-1868), when the city thrived as a wealthy town of merchants. The southern half of the old town, at the Sannomachi Street, survives in a particularly pretty state with many old homes, shops, coffee houses and sake breweries, some of which have been in business for centuries. You can visit the shops for local souvenirs and food!
My third stop was at Shirakawago. It is a village located in Ono District, Gifu Prefecture, best known for being the site of Shirakawa-go, a small, traditional village showcasing a building style known as gassho-zukuri. Together with Gokayama in Nanto, Toyama, it is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. The village was very lovely and nice out in the mother’s nature!
It was almost 8pm when I returned back to the city center and had my dinner at one of the well-known restaurants, famous for the BBQ and grilled meat, which I ordered quite a number of dishes. I do apologize for the last clip where the video was flipped horizontally automatically as it was shot vertically.
