What can two girls do on an island in the middle of the winter?

Sado Island is really popular during the summer, and many people visit to enjoy everything this place has to offer. However, during the winter, people seem to think that there’s not much to do because of the cold weather.
I’ve come to show that that is indeed WRONG! While it may be too cold to splash in the sea, there is still much to do. And because of lack of tourists, we were able to bond with the warm hearted and kind people of Sado. As a result, this has been one of the most memorable trips of my life, and I will never forget the endless hospitality and generosity they showered us with.

I coincidentally met an English speaking national licensed tour guide during my stay (she comes up at 5:21). She took us around the island for the last day and informed us on everything to know about Sado. If you’d like to visit Sado and would like her to guide you through the island (I definitely recommend you do) contact her at:

Shukugeni, the place where we joined the mochi pounding event now has its own site (ENGLISH):

The Sado Island Taiko Centre (4:03):
The teacher you see in the video is: Shin-chi Sogo. Check out their website and find out all about their experience programmes!

Last but not least: follow me on twitter where I am constantly updating about my trips! I know I’m not consistent with my vlogs, but I definitely am with my tweets ^^ @minie_westail
