On our second day in Japan, we made use of our JR passes purchased beforehand. After an early sumptuous breakfast, we headed out to Akihabara from Ikebukuro, on the JR Yamanote Metro Line. It was windy and cold but totally worth it. Roamed around the anime hotspots, ate ‘rice’ burgers, and had a wonderful time. In the chilly evening, we again headed out, this time to Shibuya using the metro (JR passes). The statue dedicated to Hachiko was moving, and the famous road crossing overwhelming. We literally went with the flow, and reached the other side. Walked around, soaking in the busy sights, sounds, music, ‘artificial made to look real’ food displays, real food, and much more. Kamakura Soup With Noodles- was the place where we had our dinner. The token system, and the choices confused us, and we somehow ended up sharing a meal. On the way back to Ikebukuro, we went to our favorite outside India shop- 7/11 and bought few snacks. The pork bun- which I thought was a giant momo was a bit of a surprise food, but I think I would like it more when I don’t see it as a momo 🙂 It was certainly a well spent day in Tokyo.
