I got to ride on the shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo to Kyoto for the FIRST TIME EVER today, and it was friggin surreal. After a long night of drinking (oops), I got up the following day to explore Nanzen-ji and its incredible gardens before a delicious dinner of gourmet takoyaki. All in all, not a bad start to Kyoto 😉
