Visiting Kinkakuji the Golden Temple in Kyoto (it really is stunning!), a Gudetama stamp rally and eating kushiage in Kyoto.
We found the Gudetama stamp rally at the Randen tram station in Arashiyama, which is a fun way to get from there to Kinkakuji. There’s also a cute kimono forest at the station.
Kinkakuji is one of the major temples in Kyoto and one of the most popular tourist attractions. It wasn’t top of my list to visit, but it was absolutely stunning. It’s covered in gold, and I wasn’t prepared for how shining and perfect it looked!
It started raining heavily after we visited Kinkakuji, so instead of going to Gion as planned, we went to a kushiage restaurant near Kyoto Station. They had vegetarian options but it was quite pricey. I’m glad I got to try kushiage, but I think there are better options around. Full details will be in my blog post on www.cakeswithfaces.co.uk
