Kobe Infiorata, a three-day event during Golden Week (end of April and beginning of May) in Kobe has several locations in Kobe: Kitano, Motomachi and Kita Kobe decorated with colorful flower paintings. The event started two years after the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995, and is modeled after a similar Infiorata event held in Genzano in Italy and Ponteareas in Spain.

Infiorata is an Italian word meaning to “spread out flowers.” Infiorata has been a traditional celebration in the Euope and particularly the town of Genzano Italy. During the Infiorata a carpet of flower petals are arranged to form art.
