Shimokitazawa is often mentioned when tokyoites rank the best places to live in this sprawling megalopolis.

Despite being located just a few minutes away from both Shinjuku and Shibuya – two of the most important mass transit hubs in Tokyo, the vibe here is much more akin of a small town.

Local bars, cheap restaurants and a high density of vintage clothes shops, records shops and live venues, has helped to make this part of town particularly popular with the young and arty crowd.

In this video, I walk around Shimokitazawa for about half an hour, both at the north and the south side of the station.
