またね (Matane)

またね (Matane) as solo exhibition:
After almost 3 years in Japan the Artist Abroad was scheduled to move back to Montréal in July of 2020. Before the big move she organized one last solo exhibition in Nagoya, Japan. The exhibition was titled ‘またね (Matane)’ which means ‘See you later’ in Japanese. “Living in an expat community there are always people leaving so we are dealing with a lot of goodbyes but goodbye has such a finality to it and I really hope to be able to travel back to Japan to visit my friends in this beautiful country in the future so instead I will say ‘またね (Matane)’’ says Denise.

‘またね (Matane)’ was held at the beautiful Esplanade Gallery which is located in a beautiful traditional Japanese building close to Endoji Shotengai shopping street and about a 5 minute walk from Nagoya International Center. The show ran from June 2-7, 2020 (Tuesday-Sunday).

On display was a series of Japan inspired pieces both on wood panels and traditional Japanese washi paper.
