Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire is a beautiful and iconic Abbey ruin which overlooks the North Sea. Designed in the English Gothic style, and with a dark colloured stone being used in it’s construction, this incredible historical place is extremely iconic and very unique amongs northern English Monestarties.
The current Abbey dates back to the thirteenth century, but an Abbey has actually sat on this site since at least seventh century. In fact, In Anglo Saxon times Whitby Abbey was one of the most important religious sites in England.
The Abbey has a very striking and eery look about it, and its no wonder Whitby Abbey was such a strong influence behind Bram Stoker’s Gothic novel Dracular. Today Whitby Abbey is in the posession of English Heritage and is open to visitors for much of the year.
After a recent visit with my daughter I put together this short cinematic travel vlog. This was my first opportunity to put my new Fujifilm X-T4 mirrorless camera to the test. And ,boy what a fantastic camera it is! I hope you enjoy!
