I tried this cool Pasig Ferry River ride a couple of months ago, (late upload due to corrupted memory card). River Ferry system is an alternative transport for daily commuters within the Metro. I really hope that the government will develop solid plans for this kind of transportation to ease up the burden of commuting. Also seen in this video some of the major construction projects under “BUILD, BUILD, BUILD” infrastructure program. Once completed, it will give less travel time from one point to the other within Metro Manila.

-Boat departure times are scheduled, it will depart on time once announced that the boat is ready for boarding.
-Boat crew 1 boat Capt, 2 boatmen for line handling/security onboard.
-Every Passenger must write their names in the manifest log before departure at the ferry terminal.
-Need to sign your name in the passenger manifest log every departure and headcount before departure and at arrival at the terminal.
-Standing in front of the boat is not allowed, you might obstruct the view/distract the boat Capt.
-Every passenger should wear a lifejacket.
-Boat complete with equipments such as engine control, radios, megaphone, fire extinguisher, LIFEJACKETS EACH PAX, each chair has a signage/warning signs/posters.
-Photo/video is not allowed during the passage in Malacanang Palace. Coast Guard personnel and boat crew will strictly monitor any movement of passengers within this area. It will be then allowed back after passing the Mabini/Nagtahan bridge.
-Coast guard inspection upon passing their Headquarters with K9 sniffing dogs onboard for security check & headcount. (Didn’t take a video of this as it is prohibited)
-Ferry station manned with personnel for radio monitoring of traffic & passengers accumulated in each terminal.
-Prior approach to the next station if no reported outgoing pax from the terminal, the boat may skip that terminal.
-It is a good idea to get the contact # of each terminal so that just before you got there, you might want to check if the trip is canceled or delayed/moved to another time.
-Some schedules are posted in MMDA FB page but sometimes there will be a slight difference in timings.
-Each ferry terminal is convenient for me, with at least clean toilets & waiting area/chairs for passengers. Some terminal with TV entertainment.
-The friendliness of the Crew is good, even the terminal staff, they were attentive to my needs. Responded to ALL of my questions to them.
-The boat has no ceiling handrails therefore NO PAX SHOULD BE STANDING.
-The boat might be quite old but still in good running condition, with speed from 9knots, 15 knots up to 21 knots! or 30 km/h or more.
-Usually, there are many pax from Guada-Escolta, secondly Escolta-Guada, just maybe it will all depend on the day and time 🙂
