Like many other people in Tokyo, I didn’t get home from work most days until 10 or 11 pm. I’d always stop at the Lawson 100-yen grocery store. Most of the time I’d buy something, but not always. It was more a nightly habit. Easy since it was only a 30 second walk from my door. In the evenings there’d always be an old Japanese man in front of me. Buying exactly two tall boys of beer. And snacks.

I thought nothing of it until a few years later I was chatting with a girl from Yokohama. Apparently “old man drinking” is a thing in Japan. This is the film about the cuisine that surrounds old man drinking. Also: Sumo Digest is a real TV show. So is professional women’s bowling.
