This journey was a major highlight of my Japan vacation with family. Our Mt Fuji tour ended at Odawara from where we boarded the Hikari 653 to Osaka. This video presents the non-stop run till Nagoya which was accomplished at speeds mostly in the 140-180 mph range. The 282 km section was covered in just 68 minutes; that’s a blistering average speed of 252.5 kmph!! Along the way, I enjoyed the high-speed skips of Atami, Mishima, Shin-Fuji, Shizuoka, Kakegawa, Hamamatsu, Toyohashi, and Mikawa-Anjo. What also impressed was the obvious lack of sound even when the train went over points and bridges. It was as if the train was gliding over the tracks. Be sure to enjoy the passage through varied landscape including mountains, pastures, rivers and urban areas. Quite a few train and river crossings are there as well.
