This is the Yomeimon Gate at Nikko’s Toshogu Shrine in Tochigi Prefecture. It’s a designated National Treasure, and one look at the ornate design explains why! Nikko is located just under two hours away from Tokyo, so a day trip is definitely possible – but if you want to savor the culture, a weekend (at least!) is recommended.
