So, here we have Part 3 of our Japanese holiday tour of Central Honshu. We take the Shinkansen, and The bullet train does not disappoint! What a fantastic way to travel, this was a big thrill for me!
On arrival in Takayama, a city 1900ft in the hills, we head for dinner in a traditional Japanese restaurant – YUM!
Next day we have a walking tour of Takayama’s hi-lights. This place is a photographers paradise, so I’m snapping away like crazy. The buildings are beautiful and so atmospheric and well, so Japanese! Sadly by early afternoon, it starts to rain again, but I keep on shooting, often under an umbrella! We enter the Festival Float museum, but have missed the the spectacular procession by about 10 days sadly!
Anyway, Part 4 will feature the Gassho-style houses of Shirakawa-go, a Unesco World Heritage Site. However, the weather, once again, is not looking good!
