Russian President Vladimir Putin made a whistle-stop tour to London on his way to the G8 conference in Northern Ireland and Heathrow was treated to some long overdue visitors! This a particularly rare sight nowadays as Stansted is now the designated airport for most VIP air traffic in the London area. I’ve included the maximum amount of footage I shot, so that fans of Russian airliners can savour every moment. It’s not quite the glory day’s of the late 1980’s when we had a mixture of 7 IL-76’s and IL62’s for President Gorbachev’s visit (that day including regular scheduled flights, we must have had at least a dozen or more Russian built jetliners at Heathrow!) – However this is still a treat – Enjoy!!
