After finishing the early morning prayers, the namaziz who had gathered in the Jama Masjid courtyard are seen wishing each other Eid Mubarak but hugging each other. The day is seen as one for special prayers for Muslims. They exchange greetings, gifts and cards among friends and family. Some people also visit burial grounds to pay respect to the departed souls – a custom known as ziyarat-al-qubur.
