**** SEE PINNED COMMENTS FOR AIRCRAFT IDENTIFICATION ****
Chicago O’Hare is still one of the busiest airports in the country even with the drastic reduction in passenger air travel recently. Freighters rule the skies, Delta 777s are a common sight here (not normal!) and several runways are closed continuously these days to make room for aircraft parking. The majority of the traffic is landing on Runway 10C-28C and departures are on 10L-28R. A lucky break in this case as this configuration makes it somewhat easier for plane spotting. The Chicago-Frankfurt-Anchorage connection remains strong. Sometimes it seems like everything big we see is going to or from one of those, FRA or ANC. The international heavies we see are mostly doing cargo runs from what I hear and observe…
My music tastes are wide and varied but I draw the title of this video from a favorite piece of music by the great composer and musician Yanni. I believe it is well descriptive of the world in general at this weird time and also of my attempts trying to document the fantastic daily action at the ol’ Orchard Field as the wind was gusting heavily the several days that I filmed this video… the week of 4/19/20. The winds of change rush across the communities on the banks of Lake Michigan as winter turns to spring bringing ultimately warmer and stormier weather in the days ahead.
My world currently finds itself standing still yet forever in motion.
Fly on. It’s just another day in the life of Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
