Ritsurin Garden is one of Japan’s most exquisite and beautiful landscape gardens, and completely free from the tourist hordes. Ritsurin (ζ ζε
¬ε) Garden (Ritsurin Park) sits at the foot of Mt. Shiun and its construction continued over 120 years, finally being completed in 1745. Its 13 ponds are surrounded by carefully trimmed Hakomatsu pine trees, which look like a massive bonsai display covering 750,000 square meters.
This garden is truly one of Japan’s finest and shouldn’t be missed. It’s one of Japan’s best.
Along with seeing the beautiful Takamatsu Castle as well as the beautiful Yashima Temple Ritsurin Garden can make a great day of Japan sightseeing.
