Visitors looking for souvenirs and more are recommended to visit the Sapporo Factory in Hokkaido. Opened in 1993, this 5 story shopping and entertainment atrium has about 160 stores. In addition to clothing/souvenir stores, the shopping complex has restaurants/cafes and a multi-screen movie theater.

Sapporo Factory was built on the former site of Japan’s first beer brewery. Visitors will see a red brick Akarenga building within the premises. In the late 1800s, during Hokkaido’s development period, there were many red brick Akarenga buildings in Hokkaido. There is a small brewery can be found within the building with visitors being able to sample beer at the Akarenga’s beer hall or the tasting bar.
