Yasukuni Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Chiyoda, Tokyo. It was founded by Emperor Meiji in June 1869 and commemorates those who died in service of Japan from the Boshin War of 1868–1869 through the First Indochina War of 1946–1954.
The shrine’s purpose has been expanded over the years to include those who died in the wars involving Japan spanning from the entire Meiji and Taishō periods, and the lesser part of the Shōwa period.
This video was taken when the cherry blossoms at Yasukuni Shrine, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Tokyo, were in full bloom and the shrine grounds were empty (filmed last Sunday before the coronavirus forced people to stay home).
I think it was the first time in history that I photographed the uninhabited grounds when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom at Yasukuni Shrine, which has a large number of visitors. It was a very precious shooting.
The complete version of the video of Yasukuni Shrine was edited and released after filming the scene of Yasukuni Shrine this summer, and I would like to release it around August 2020, but the cherry blossoms at Yasukuni Shrine were more beautiful than I expected, so I released the video of about 2 minutes just to show this scene.
