The view from the top of Chausuyama Kofun was more beautiful than I thought! This time, I want to bother you when Sakura is in full bloom. What is Yanai Chausuyama Kofun? This is a keyhole-shaped tumulus located in Yanai, Yanai City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. A large copper mirror has been excavated and is designated as a national historic site. Yanai Chausuyama Tumulus The Yanai Chausuyama Tumulus is a 90-meter-long front tumulus that was built from the end of the 4th century to the beginning of the 5th century. It was discovered by a local boy in 1905! The single-headed twin-hull monster mirror has the largest diameter in Japan 44 from a tumulus. An 8cm mirror (single-headed twin-hull monster mirror) has been excavated and is now designated as a National Historic Site! It is maintained as a tomb park, and locals and riders taking a touring break on tourist bikes spend their time in the rich nature of the park. The Chausuyama Kofun Museum attached to the Kofun Park displays excavated items and the history of tombs, and I felt that families with disabilities were having fun talking about the history with their children. You can also climb the tumulus, so the view from the top is very good, and you can overlook the city of Yanai and the islands and Sora of the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. It is a very precious place where you can see many wind power plants on the thermal power plant of China Electric Power and the mountain peak! It is located at Mukoyama, 75 meters above sea level, overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. It measures 80 meters in length, 50 meters in diameter at the rear circle, and 40 meters in width at the front. Excavated by local residents in 1892 (Meiji 25), copper mirrors, iron swords, iron hob, etc. were excavated from a pit-type stone room made of split stone. Five bronze mirrors have been excavated, the largest of which is the Dragon Dragon (both single and double-headed monster mirrors) with a diameter of 44. It is eight centimeters and is one of the largest copper mirrors excavated from tumuli. This and the four gods four beasts are stored in the Tokyo National Museum. The other two bronze mirrors are the Kamibunzou, a painting band (stored in the Yamaguchi Museum of Yamaguchi Prefecture) and the Naha Yakana Bunkyo (stored in the Chausuyama Tumulus Museum), and the remaining one is unknown. Other artifacts are in the Yamaguchi Prefectural Yamaguchi Museum and private collections. The tomb was designated as a national historic site in 1948. Excavations were conducted in 1991 (Heisei Era) for the maintenance of historic sites, revealing that the mound was built in three steps and haniwa were lined up. In addition to cylindrical haniwa, house-shaped haniwa have also been excavated. The pit-type stone room has also been re-examined and large iron swords and iron swords left undigged have been excavated. The burial mound is currently being maintained along with the museum as a historical square of the Chausuyama Burial Mound, and the roof tiles, haniwa row, and the home-shaped haniwa of the mound are reproduced.
