In 2019, we went on a trip to Japan with the whole family. I’ve already been there a couple of times with my girlfriend, and we love this place. My parents on the other side have never been to Japan or another Asian country in general before. So showing them my favorite place made me really happy, but the planning was interesting. The biggest question was: “What can I show them, what do I want them to see vs. what would they want to see?” Everybody has an image in mind on what Japan is like. So with his trip I tried to show them some highlights and main attractions that people have in mind when they think about Japan in general – but give them my point of view – in combination with some parts of the cities and ways that are away from tourists and off the beaten tracks. The video shows our travel, amazing restaurants and food places as well as sightseeing.
Together we discovered some side streets in Tokyo as well as the main areas like Harajuku, Shinjuku, Shibuja nad the famous crossing, Ginza and Nakameguro.
Outside of Tokyo we went to visit the great Buddha of Kamakura. A beautiful journey with the train and a nice walk.
An evening with soba strengthened us for the next day at the immersive and fascinating teamLab Borderless space:
After Tokyo we took the bullet train to Kyoto. There we visited the Kiyomizu-dera temple with an amazing view, we went to Fushimi Inari-Taisha, through Gion and I bought a knife “hand made in Kyoto“. We had a delicious „izakaya“ dinner, tried some Kyoto style Sushi, which definitely is different to regular sushi, but super tasty and visited very special Gin bar. I will upload a food focused video soon and also link the places.
In Hiroshima, we went to the beautiful island of Miyajima and did a hike. Always worth a visit. Before heading back to Tokyo and from there to Germany, we had a special Hiroshima Style Okonomiyak.

I used the Sony Alpha 6400 with the Sony SEL 18-135mm 3.5-5.6. In my opinion a perfect lens to film and take pictures when on vacation or traveling.
